Orange (Bigarade Petitgrain) Essential Oil
Pure Orange Bigarade Petitgrain Essential Oil (Essence)
'Calm steady pace… nothing to do, nothing left undone'
Family: Rutaceae
Latin name:Citrus aurantium var. bigarade
Origin: Egypt/Paraguay
Farming Method: Wild Crafted
Plant Parts: Leaf and Branch
Process: Steam Distilled
Additional Information: Also called Orange Leaf Essential Oil.
A 'Petitgrain' essential essence/oil is made from the leaves of a citrus tree rather than the more common citrus essences (oils) that are made from the peel. Petitgrain essences smell much 'earthier' than essences made from the fruit.
Distilled from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree, Petitgrain is a sophisticated, woody-floral essence that harmonizes its citrus brightness and earthy depth.
Medicinal Benefits: A powerful nervine and antispasmodic, it helps support the cardiovascular and digestive systems while toning oily or blemish-prone skin.
Emotional & Spiritual: Known for its protective qualities against mental anguish, it helps release anger and panic, promoting higher levels of consciousness.
Historical Significance: Its name comes from the French for "little grains," as it was originally extracted from small, unripe green fruits; it was a key ingredient in the famous 18th-century "Eau de Cologne".
