Rose (White) Bulgaria Hydrolat (Hydrosol)

"When Barry and I started Wisdom of the Earth,  we offered no hydrolats at all, only essential  oils.   Because they are effectively mostly water, they are extremely heavy and expensive to ship.  So they really weren't a readily available product.  In fact, when we took a group to France to study with several of our farmers, we visited a lavandin distiller to participate in the distillation  process.  When we saw that the water from the "cook" was being drained off onto the ground, we all dumped the water out of our water bottles, and ran over to the drain pipe to fill them with the hydrolat!!  The distiller and his helpers laughed and laughed at us...no one thought the hydrolat was worth saving!!  That all changed when an aromatherapist named Suzanne Catty  released a book in 2001 called Hydrosols:  The Next Aromatherapy, and basically put hydrosols "on the map" so to speak.  More and more French farmers started marketing their hydrolats (which they called them in France, indicating that there were no preservatives or other additives in them).  While we didn't agree with everything that Suzanne stated in her book, we were gratified that she recognized and acknowledged the therapeutic value of hydrolats.  So, although our beautiful White Rose hydrolat was not initially in our portfolio, within a year or two of Catty's book  being released, we added a few hydrolats to our offerings, including Rose.  I did further study with John Steele, who was extremely knowledgeable about hydrolats,  shortly thereafter, and was even more convinced that they were a valuable addition to the practice of aromatherapy.  So, I expanded the number of hydrolats offered when I undertook sole ownership of WOTE in 2020."
