A word about Common Tansy…this is an essential oil that commands respect.  It is to be used sparingly, with care, and with discretion, due to its high thujone content.  Thujone can be neurotoxic in high amounts. it has a long history of being treated with respect and caution in herbalism.  it has been used traditionally, and is still being used with knowledge and care due to the following benefits: 

Medicinal Benefits: Laboratory studies have found valuable anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial  properties. As in ancient times, today’s research is also evaluating its potential to repel insects, affect certain parasites, and inhibit larval development.  This mirrors its long folk use as a household insect deterrent and the plant was hung in barns and doorways.
