'Let's get through this together'
Family: Myrtaceae
Latin name: Melaleuca teretifolia
Origin: Australia
Farming Method: Biodynamic
Plant Parts:
Process: Steam Distilled
Additional Information: Be mindful in application, may be skin sensitive. Do a test patch.
beneficial uses: This little-known Melaleuca is considered by some to be even more purifying than her better known cousin, Tea Tree, due to a higher citral content. She is an anti-bacterial powerhouse, and is a component of many natural cleaning products. Honey Myrtle, due to her amazing aroma and potent respiratory support, is a great pick for use in a diffuser. She is also effective at treating fungal infections. Honey Myrtle calms the nerves and uplifts the spirits. We are blessed to have this artisan oil produced by a lovely family in Australia. They have literally put Honey Myrtle "on the map" in aromatherapy, making it much better known today than it was 10 years ago through their efforts to educate the aromatherapy community on the wonderful healing properties of this beautiful oil. Indigenous Australians used Honey Myrtle as an "all around" natural medicine, and in some spiritual practices, she is used to cleanse and purify sacred spaces.
Medicinal benefits: Honey Myrtle contains the highest natural citral content of any Melaleuca species — citral being a potent antimicrobial compound. This makes it a great choice for clearing an interior environment via diffusion. Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and supports cell regeneration (wound healing). Supports respiratory opening.
Emotional/spiritual properties: Honey Myrtle is sweet and resinous with a soft herbal honey aroma that feels both cleansing and comforting. Its gentle nature makes it suitable for children and sensitive individuals. Associated with vitality, beauty, and gentle purification. Helps restore emotional balance and fosters a sense of uplifting, inner brightness.
Historical significance: Sacred to ancient Mediterranean cultures, especially associated with Aphrodite and Venus. Used in ritual, medicine, and perfumery for thousands of years.
